I just got back from watching Thor: Ragnarok. It is definitely the best of the Thor movies, and maybe the best Marvel movie...
It has a lot of humor. A LOT of humor. So much humor, it's more comedy than action. It has the Immigrant Song, which actually ranked #5 on my top 50 favorite songs list. The Stan Lee cameo is brilliant, as usual.
The characters are all amazing. Thor is awesome, Hulk is awesome, Bruce Banner is whiny but still awesome, Hela is a great villain, Korg is hilarious, Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster is awesome, Skurge is great, and Valkyrie is amazing.
It's an amazing film. Go see it.
Now.
Spoilers:
Here's a handy plot in case you don't like spoilers.
Thor is captured by Surtur, who is destined to destroy Asgard when his crown is put in the Eternal Flame. He escapes and makes it to Asgard, where he reveals that Odin is really Loki in disguise. They find Odin with the help of Doctor Strange, where they find Odin in Norway. There he reveals that once he dies, Thor's sister, Hela, the Goddes of Death, will escape from her prison. She escapes, and goes to Asgard and sends Thor and Loki to another world, where Thor is captured and forced to fight the Hulk, who has been stuck in Hulk mode for two years. Thor almost wins but is forced to failure by the Grandmaster, the man who owns the ring.
Thor escapes the planet with the help of Valkyrie and Hulk (now Bruce Banner, who worries that if he goes Hulk again he may stay Hulk). Thor leaves Loki behind, and he is later rescued by a rebellion led by Korg.
Meanwhile, in Asgard, Hela kills all of the Warriors Three and takes over Asgard with her new henchmen, Skurge. Heimdall steals the key to the Bifrost, preventing Hela from taking over any other realms. Valkyrie and Banner (now Hulk) fight off Hela's minions and her wolf, Fenrir, while Thor confronts Hela and loses an eye. Loki comes with the rebellion, saving the people of Asgard. Thor goes all Thunder-god, and Loki puts the crown of Surtur in the Eternal Flame (and probably pickpocketed the Infinity Cube). Surtur destroys Asgard, including Hela, and everyone makes it out okay. Thor is sailing on the spaceship (with a cool new eyepatch), and they are approached by a huge ship, most likely Thanos's ship.
The only loose ends were whether or not Banner is stuck in Hulk mode. Everything was great. It's like when you play Rummikub, and you make a brilliant play you've been planning for all your turns, only to find out you have one number that doesn't go anywhere.
