Alright, I'm not sure when this was announced/leaked/talked about, but it was announced/leaked/talked about that Quentin Tarantino will be making a film with J.J. Abrams about Star Trek, not the upcoming Star Trek 4, but a new Star Trek, maybe from the Next Generation, starring Picard.
So, what does this mean?
Quentin Tarantino is famous for Cult Classic, Critically Acclaimed movies that are R-Rated and very violent. So, what would this do for Star Trek?
I don't know. It might be PG-13, since it has Abrams, but I don't think Picard would be violated if it was R-Rated, as the actor hasn't been bothered by putting one of his longest standing roles into a gory R-Rated movie that clashes with the characters fundamental values (*cough* Logan *cough*). But since all of Tarantino's films so far have been R, and the next on his slate look to be R (Kill Bill 3 and the Manson Murders), this could very well be a R-Rated Star Trek.
What would this do to fans?
I'm not sure. I wouldn't be bothered, as Star Trek isn't one of my biggest film priorities (Ex. If they made a MCU movie R, that is something I would by majorly bothered by. The R-Rated X-Men films are mildly annoying) and an R-Rated Next Generation film may make sense, as the Borgs are fairly evil and violent.
Actually, I just did some research, and it turns out it will be R-Rated, so... oh well. They probably lost about 40% of their audience.
