Alright! Today I realized I did not do a review for Ant-Man and the Wasp, and here's my biggest problem with the movie:
It's forgettable.
That's it.
Okay, for an actual (Spoiler free) review, here it is:
Ant-Man and the Wasp is good.
7/10 stars.
Of course, it's a good movie. All MCU movies are good. But Ant-Man and the Wasp is just another okay film. It's slightly better than the first (But without the heist factor), and has some really great moments.
But all that is evened out by the movie's faults:
1. Forgettable
I feel as if I've covered this.
2. The badguy
Ava Starr is a very good badguy. Her character was interesting, but she wasn't exactly a badguy. She was just someone who clashes with the hero. All she wants to do is live. I suppose that she did have a lot of development, and I do think she was a better villain than Hela, and she was definitely a better villain than Yellowjacket.
But it did have some really good things, like
1. the Wasp
Finally, we get the Wasp in costume! And in a better haircut than the first one!
2. the Supporting Cast
If Ant-Man and the Wasp is going to have three villains and about 7 subplots, then it had better have a good supporting cast. And it does. Michael Peña once again shines as Luis, and Kurt Dastmalchian, Tip "T.I." Harris, Cassie Lang, and new character Henry Wu are all great. Wu was a great character. I want to see more of him in MCU flicks.
3. The size
The size of Ant-Man and the Wasp is small. In fact, it's really just about trying to save Janet Van Dyne, with no world ending consequences. I do like that. Then they also play around with size, from a GIANT Giant-Man too a kid Scott in a hilarious school scene.
Verdict:
I liked it. It just felt a bit long.
It's forgettable.
