Alright! I have seen Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and now I am prepared to talk about it:
This movie is fantastic.
Alright, to start things off, here are some awesome things about the film:
The Style
The animation is gorgeous. Half 4k, half comic book, and half still rendering, it all blurs together (Literally) to look awesome. In some scenes, it feels like the movie is still rendering, but in others, specifically the ones with buildings, Spider-People in suits, or vehicles, it looks fresher than life.
Kingpin
The movie's bad guy, Kingpin, is not a small man. He is not a big man. He is a giant, strong enough to crack stone and brutally murder people.
The Characters
This movie introduces a lot of memorable characters, like Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir, and Sp//dr. All of them are extremely recognizable and iconic in their own right; A girl Spider-Man, a talking animal for little kids, a dark Spider-Man for fans, and a Japanese-ish Spider-Man for manga fans and whatnot.
Old Peter Parker
This movie has a very sad, old, fat Peter Parker. Aunt May has died, he and MJ split up, and now he has abandoned crime fighting and eats pizza all day. How depressing. But he's very cool in his own right.
The after credits scene
The last scene has Spider-Man 2099 in the 60s Spider-Man cartoon.
There's not much else I can say... there really are no complaints I have about this film, the worst thing I can say is that it sometimes looks like it's rendering, but it works.
Rating: 10/10
"Exceeding in a truly awesome scale, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has excellent animation, cool characters, and is a refreshing origin story."
