Alright! Today I'm reviewing the Lion King 2019! So, it's basically the same thing as the original.
In fact, imagine the original, but worse.
So, here's a link to my 1994 review, here, and go read that, and imagine that it's just a lot worse.
Basically the songs are a big letdown (Specifically Be Prepared and I Just Can't Wait To Be King). And the characters need facial expressions. And because of that it's soulless.
However, this film is technically amazing. The CGI in it looks completely real. Unfortunately, that makes it more like a nature documentary than the Lion King.
There is nothing this film did better than the original, but, I was expecting to see the original (But a bit worse) when I bought a movie ticket, so call me satisfied, but also very disappointed, because it actually failed at one extremely important point: Mufasa's death is a joke.
Seriously, in the original, as Mufasa falls, it fades to black and then zooms out of Simba's eye, creating the most dramatic zoom. In the new one, it cuts it short, and even worse, has it in broad daylight, ditching the dusty and murky setting of the original.
Overall Opinion: 2/10, "Imagine the original - but worse."
