Why DVDs and Blu-Rays are awesome and Digital Purchases are not.

This is just a short PSA:

Blu-Ray and DVDs are awesome and Digital Purchases are not.
Note: I was kind of in a mood when I wrote this so it's very opinionated, not entirely based in facts, and kind of a waste of your precious time, that I'm sure you were using to do something productive.

Why?
Well, have you ever opened an app and found all your progress gone? Or gotten hacked? I have. It sucks.
And it sucks even more when you would have to pay for it again.
However, with a DVD, that's in your house. No one takes that.

Unless you're raided by a DVD burglar. And, you need the same stuff to watch. A TV. A DVD player. A sound system.
But with Digital, you also need Wifi. Granted, you probably have Wifi, but you don't always have it. What about in the car? On those back-seat car TVs?
The only difference is a digital purchase you can see on a phone.
But don't watch movies on your phone. It really takes away from the experience of watching.

Plus, buying stuff early isn't worth it. Just wait a bit. And it costs more than buying the DVD. Like, 4 bucks more.

You've probably heard that with Netflix and stuff, you get access to more for less. That's true.
But you're at the mercy of what they have, not what you want.

Also, if streaming kills movie theaters, Imma be mad. I like going to the movies. It's like social activity without social activity.
However, this year, there was a bunch of stuff that wasn't good enough to see for $15.

Dark Phoenix, MIB: International, Godzilla: King of the Monsters (I saw it in theaters anyway), Secret Life of Pets 2, Angry Birds Movie 2, and LEGO Movie 2.
Some of these movies made okay bank. But not a lot.
Take Alita: Battle Angel for example. Made an okay amount of money. But not a lot. It could've made a lot more.
A lot more.

But it didn't because they weren't good enough. At $15 a pop, you gotta plan carefully. And an okay movie doesn't cut it.
We would rather see Matrix 4 than a movie like the Matrix. And that's bad.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding made a lot of money. But, if released in today's environment, wouldn't make a lot because it's not pre-existing to a brand, not part of a larger story, and not special enough to justify ticket prices.

That's my rant. I'm done.
