Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Review!

Image result for Rise of SkywalkerAlright! After the iconic Star Wars: the Force Awakens, which, in reflection, is actually really good, and the immensely disappointing Star Wars: the Last Jedi, comes the third film in the trilogy.

And, really, this one takes so much of its run time trying to fix the Last Jedi into the Star Wars XIII that J. J. Abrams wanted, that the first half and second half of the movie could have been, and probably should have been, two movies.

But as a conclusion to the Skywalker Saga, which at this point is more the Palpatine Saga (Basically the entire saga is about Palpatine, guys), this movie is fine, but forgettable. It wrapped up characters, character arcs, and brung a lot of closure to things we had questions about. It gives us satisfying answers and amazing visuals.

But, yeah. It's not a particularly satisfying movie. But if you forget the movie and take the answers it gives, then it's bearable.

They go to find this object, but they have to meet this person, but they have to rescue this person, and then they have to go to another planet to find the object, and then they actually get to the climax of the movie.

It's a convoluted plot. It's like Aquaman where the subplot (Finding the trident) basically has more screen time than the actual plot (Stopping Orm).

And, what really bugs me about this is that critics are calling it "Rude" to Rian Johnson. Well, the movie really just proves how "Rude" Rian Johnson was to J. J. Abrams in the first place. Palpatine was definitely not the endgame. But Mr. Johnson killed Snoke, so they need a villain. It should've been Kylo, but Disney probably lacks the balls to make the Skywalker the villain.

Also, Disney really lacks balls in anything. The Last Jedi may not have been a good movie, but it did give us answers, albeit answers we weren't expecting. The pushback value of that probably would have faded should this movie have proven that those answers were intentional.

Image result for Rise of SkywalkerCritics are feeling basically what fans felt after the Last Jedi. "What? How could they throw away everything the previous movie set up? This is garbage." Well, that's how it feels. Suck it. And I think that Star Wars fans will really enjoy the Rise of Skywalker. It makes lots of references to previous films, has eye candy, epic fights, and is just a good conclusion. Not a good movie by any means, but a good fan service.

I also just want to say the fight choreography is bad. It's just hitting each other with lightsabers, like the Last Jedi, but every other hit has a spin. It's bad choreo. It's just brash hitting, like Luke fighting Vader in Return of the Jedi (But that moment was earned and powerful). The Prequel fights were based on the Japanese. OT was European fencing. Sequel fights are two kids in a park with sticks.

But I just gotta say that they could've at least stuck the landing on the trilogy. If you forget that you saw the movie and just gained the knowledge, the Rise of Skywalker works. But as a functioning trilogy? It should've at least tried to have keep some of the things from the Last Jedi alive. Like Rey being a nobody, or Kylo being the main villain.

Overall Opinion: 6/10. "Rise of Skywalker is a meh conclusion to the Skywalker Saga, and not the best movie. In fact, for what should be the Endgame of one of the oldest franchises, we get more Attack of the Clones quality from the film. Disappointing."

Spoilers Below:

Guys, when Rey looks up to the stars and hears all the voices of past Jedi calling to her, that was an amazing scene. But I really wanted all of the Jedi to show up as Force ghosts. That would have been as amazing as Endgame's Portals. But no, huge missed opportunity. I'll just think that's what happened. It looks awesome in my head.

I also really like Rey's orange lightsaber. That was pretty awesome.
