DON'T see Mulan

Alright! So Disney is releasing Mulan on Disney+ this Friday, Sep 4th. But there's a catch: It will cost $30.

And I have...  a lot of issues with this. So, here's the definitive reasons why you SHOULD NOT pay for Mulan:

If you really want to drag politics into this, Mulan's actress, Liu Yifei, supported Hong Kong's police.
And they removed Li Shang as a love interest because of #MeToo.

1. Disney+ was created to contain all of Disney's movies for $7 a month. Now, not even a year later, Disney is going back on that by creating an "Premium Subscription" for one movie that would cost $37, because you have to pay for Disney+ to even see Mulan.

2. Mulan was probably going to make a billion dollars. And, since it's not a shot for shot remake like The Lion King, and is actually it's own story, that's like taking a billion dollar original movie and not releasing it in theaters

3. It's a huge blow to movie theaters. Disney is already going to release Black Widow and Soul in theaters in November. This is them just wanting to see how well this could work, and if it could be done to future movies.

4. They're releasing it the same weekend Tenet opens in the U.S., which is the first major movie in nearly six months. That's a major blow. They easily could've released it a month earlier, this is just Disney being a jerk to movie theaters and Warner Bros.

This is a completely original movie that would've been huge.
Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan actually had the balls to release it in theaters.
This is another example of Disney lacking balls.

5. Sending a movie like Artemis Fowl straight to Disney+ for free while making you pay for Mulan is just disrespectful to the streaming service.

6. Mulan will be going to Disney+ anyways, whether you fork over an extra $30 or not. So at worst, you wait 4-6 months to see it at the regular $7. Just wait.

7. Mulan is the biggest movie ever directed by a woman, with a budget of $200 million. This would also potentially be the first $1 billion dollar movie with an Asian lead and cast. That's just shameful to not even release it in theaters. And the juxtaposition between Disney overselling Captain Marvel as the first movie to ever star a female, while showing a comparative lack of faith with Mulan is completely awful.

8. Mulan easily could have been delayed. This December would be good, since the biggest competition would be Dune and West Side Story. Another good choice would be April, where the competition would be A Quiet Place: Part II. Or they could delay it an entire year to next August or September, where there would be virtually no competition.

Love the original Mulan to death, but this is too much for me to support.
