Why?
Well, it's not a bad movie. It's just not an excellent one. Kind of like Rogue One, which you really only watch for two reasons:
1. That sweet Vader scene at the end
2. K-2SO
Solo's like that too. I really only liked a couple of things:
1. That Darth Maul cameo
2. the Cast
Yeah, Han Solo was okay. However, he's not like the gruff smuggler you meet in a New Hope. This one is a bit more happy and stuff, but by the end of the film, he kills one of his best friends. Yeah. He's getting to gruff.
However, Rogue One did extremely well at the box office, while Solo is somewhat of a flop. Is there a particular reason why?

1. It was mildly boring
But this was also the case in Rogue One
2. It had fans hating it because "How dare they recast Harrison Ford?"
This was not in Rogue One
3. It got a couple things wrong
This was in Rogue One.
Now, let's talk about the issues.
The biggest issues I had about the movie were that
1) Han took any name, which happened to by Solo, and then continued to use it. That's a bit weird, and recites that really dumb joke about Han Literal Solo
2) the Kessel Run
the Kessel Run was okay. It's just, there was no, like, crowd to witness it. If you're going to set a record, you need to witness it. For all we know, Han just says he made it in 12 parsecs (Which isn't actually a time, it's a distance), and people are like, Meh. I've heard people made it in 5. I don't need some announcer and a race or whatever, "You're going to be a legend, boy. 12 parsecs!!! By gosh, the whole galaxy will hear about this!" I don't need that. I just wish people were watching the historic moment, to give some facts to Han's boasting. Everyone who was there is either dead or do not wish to discuss the matter.
But good things are in there too.
1) Lando Calrissian
Lando Calrissian was my favorite thing about the movie, even before I saw it. He just looks so awesome, with the charisma you would expect from a young Lando. Kudos to Donald Glover once again.
2) Han Solo
Han was actually fine. He's optimistic, he's sad, he actually loved someone, which kind of made sense. He does know a lot of people in his line of work. However, he was also a goodguy. Han Solo is a bad guy.
3) That Darth Maul cameo
The Darth Maul cameo is where the movie gets exciting and pushes boundaries. It is also when the movie ends.
4) the Cast
Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany, and Emilie Thompson are all good additions to the Star Wars universe. Did you catch that Beckett killed Aurra Sing? That was cool.
It was an okay movie, totally undeserving of the hate, like Justice League, but a little bit less fun. And definitely better than the Last Jedi.
