Alright! 2022 has been over for some time now, and after my brief almost retirement from blogging last May, I've decided to get back into the swing of things with new weekly posts for 2023. Some of it is self-motivation, some of it is good writing practice, but above all else? It's a fun hobby, and one needs fun hobbies more than ever when working full-time.
And so we draw 2022 to a close, hoping, perhaps in vain but still hoping, that 2023 will be a bit better... although perhaps hope isn't needed when we know that the Barbie movie is coming. That's a beacon of hope unto itself.

9. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
8/10. "Good but not great, Glass Onion is another fun (but derivative) caper for Benoit Blanc and company."
8. The Banshees of Inisherin
8/10. "If it were centered and pastel-colored, The Banshees of Inisherin could pass for a Wes Anderson movie."
7. Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio
8/10. "A darker tone emulated by stop motion, Pinocchio is a fascinating and visceral take on the tale from Guillermo del Toro."
8/10. "Very much like its predecessor, The Way of Water is the best-looking thing you've ever seen, but visuals can only be so entertaining for so long - and a three-hour+ runtime is decidedly past that."
9/10. "A valuable lesson in the importance of being earnest, RRR's gee-whiz optimism and feel-good charm ground an intentionally frenetic Tollywood flick."
9/10. “A stylized but overly serious crime drama, The Batman lays the groundwork for the best iteration of the character yet.”
9/10. "Against all odds, a 40-year-old sequel to an 80s classic is, by all definitions, superb.”

9/10. "Wholly unique and uniquely whole, Everything Everywhere All at Once lives up to its title in the best way possible."
1. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
10/10. "Shockingly emotional, hilarious, and terrifying, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a touching story about mortality and making the most of the time you have."
